An honest and courageous story. Ms. Lucci writes with a poetic quality. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read!

“Justice for the Lemon Trees” is Author Jessica Lucci’s personal memoir of “tragic child abuse, brash bullying, and calamitous schooling”. Plagued by domestic violence, and an unfair social services system that would rather imprison women than provide the mental healthcare they need and deserve, Lucci rises up time and again through despair, loss, and tragedy to become an effective advocate for others walking the most difficult paths of life, leading them from helpless victim to proud survivor.
For once, I’m not going to expand on the author’s writing style—which, by the way, conveys the real-life, nitty-gritty life she has endured. I am only going to say that, for anyone who has experienced childhood sexual-abuse, bullying, domestic trauma, and the misfortune of being completely misunderstood and discounted, meet your kindred soul-survivor. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to understand how a person who is broken down time and time again still has the courage and fortitude to rise up and become a beacon to others.
To Author Lucci—for all the life lessons you had to learn the hardest way possible, for all the bright spots you sparked in a sea of misery, for all the work you do to help those survivors of abuse and trauma today—I’ll just say a simple, “Thank you for being who you are today.”

Beautifully written with raw emotion and candor smeared on every page, Justice for the Lemon Trees by Jessica Lucci is sometimes tough to read, but the story of Jessica's life is astounding, as you read this book you will see why she needed to write this down, and share her story.
In the beginning, this book is funny, clever, and the wording is poetic. It flows through your fingers like water. Jessica tells of her early childhood and how she used to enjoy swimming in the summer, her family, and the humdrum of her everyday life.
Then things take a sudden and sharp twist. Jessica's life is thrust into this world that no one ever wants to know, and a world that no one ever wants their children to have to experience. That is the world of rape, molestation, and abuse.
I am so sorry that Jessica had to go through this tragedy, there are no words to describe her bravery, and I have a lot of respect for her for telling her truth. I can't imagine the pain that she has felt, and I hope that this book helps someone that is in her same position. This book is short, but it's powerful.

Justice is an emotional and heart-rending book that gives readers a look into mental illness. The author writes honestly about her life of abuse, mental illness, and incarceration. Through her writing she comes to terms with her past, and does what she needs to do to rebuild her life and look forward to the future.
Written in a poetic and reflective manner, with a little self-effaced humor on the side, Justice is an inspiring read that will give you many opportunities to pause and consider what Lucci has gone through, and survived. Thank you, Jessica, for putting your very personal story out there.

The author uniquely explores her life, it's meanings and lessons. In her poetic voice, she identifies impactful moments in time that forced her to take another look in the mirror. Beautifully written, I felt like I was reading the life of a poet with every turned page.

I started this morning, and couldn't stop. I didn't want it to end. I look forward to reading it again soon. Such a powerful, honest, overwhelmingly emotional story, told with a very unique and beautiful voice. For me, hope was brightest, and whether through it's poetic quality, or it's optimistic tone, Justice for the Lemon Trees made me stop and think about my own journey, and how mental health can affect people in so many different ways. I highly recommend reading this book.

Wow! This book is elegantly written, and the author's style of writing is captivating and poetic. This book is definitely a page turner, but in a uniquely different way. I found myself wanting to hear more of her voice, and understand more of her perspective of her own life. It explores the gray areas of mental illness, abuse, institutions, justice, and injustice. Bottom line... read this book!
